A blind flange is a solid metal component with no holes (internal diameter) that is used to seal off a line. Blank Flange vs Blind Flange
Blind flanges are often called Blank flange however, in many cases, the two nomenclatures are comparable or identical. Where a blind flange is a pipe flange with equally spaced bolt holes bored along the bolt circle on the other hand, a blank flange is a full flange that has not been drilled.
Blind Flange Types
Blind flanges, like regular pipe flanges, can have either a raised face (RF) or a flat face (FF). If the flange is RF, a standard ring gasket is suitable for service and/or testing. If it is FF, use a full-face gasket since the FF flange is not meant to withstand the bending pressures that arise from putting a ring gasket or an RF flange against the FF flange.
